RSLogix5000 Studio 5000 V28 RSLogix5000 Studio 5000 V28 is the Rockwell Automation engineering environment for programming, configuring and maintaining ControlLogix, CompactLogix and GuardLogix controllers. Also known as Studio 5000 Logix Designer, it keeps logic, motion, safety and diagnostics together in one project, so design, commissioning and maintenance teams always work from the same source of truth.

Core Functions. The tag-based database frees programs from fixed memory addresses, so symbols can be named after real plant equipment and reused across routines. Ladder diagram, function block, structured text and sequential function chart editors mix freely inside one task, letting each part of the application use the most readable language. Integrated motion control supports CIP Motion axes, coordinated moves and cam profiles, while GuardLogix safety logic lives in the same controller project with dedicated safety tags and signatures. FactoryTalk Linx and FactoryTalk View integration exposes tags to HMI applications without re-entering addresses. Cross-reference searching, quick tag navigation and online editing shorten troubleshooting on running machines, and trend and diagnostic views show exactly what the controller sees. Version management, project compare and automatic program recovery protect engineering work across the whole life cycle of a machine.

New in Version 28. Version 28 adds support for the current generation of 5580 and 5380 controllers, improves download and upload performance on large projects, and extends the motion and safety instruction set. The connection manager and diagnostic views were refreshed, module definitions were updated for recent hardware, and a batch of quality fixes reported by field users is included.

Supported Systems. Supported systems: Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. Projects created in earlier releases are converted when opened; keep a backup of the original file because conversion is one-way. Recommended: 8 GB RAM, 20 GB free disk space.
